I'm going to buy a P30 in 40 soon. I can't decide between the P30S and the P30. If I get the P30S and don't like the safety level is it possible to remove the it and just use it as a P30?
Thx for any help.

I haven't even glanced at the p30S frame or how the safety is mounted. If it's where i think it is, and the decocker is on the back of the frame next to the hammer, then i would imagine you could remove the safety and order the part that will take the place of that lever and just have a P30_ instead of the P30S. BUT, i'm not hk, and don't have that weapon. have you made a call yet?

Why do you want a manual safety in the first place? I shoot MANY pistols that do not have them. Now that I think of it, I have only 3 pistols that have them. A Ruger Mk II. Sig Mosquito and a Walther PP. I don't care for them as your hand has to be "trained" to flip it off when you get ready to fire. Then you have to set it ON before you re holster. This isn't a 1911 where it IS needed. I like the good old DA / SA trigger on the P30. Hard to beat and just as safe. I personally find them just something to get in the way.

I carry the HK45c. It has the safety and can be carried cocked and locked. I want the P30s to stay with the same discipline. Buy the way, are the S versions out yet?

the s variant is available, just may be tough to get your hands on one, lots of demand...it's still new in comparison to the other P pistols.

Gary, Yes the P30s are out, I just purchased one from a sporting goods store just north of Albany, NY believe it or not. A P30s V1 in 9mm. The only one the supplier had in stock so I grabed it. Being left handed and my right eye as the dominant eye, I learned to shoot with both hands equally so the ambidextrous safety proved to be perfect for me. Until I bought this P30s, my Sig P229 in .357 sig was my favorite carry piece but now I think my HK will be. Good luck in finding one.

I've been trying DESPERATELY to find the P30S V1 9MM. I haven't found any place that has them. If anyone runs across a vendor, PLEASE let me know.

I have been pro manual safety and decocker forever. I now have a P30. I do not regret not having a safety. Being double action it is the same level of safe as a revolver uncocked. I recommend you consider the regular P30. With the double action and decocker its plenty safe without the manual safety and will cost less and be easier to find.
C&J Sporting goods in Bethany Oklahoma can likely order you whatever you want with quick delivery and great prices.
