The mags are essentially the same. They have different floor plates and the Mark 23 use to have longer feed lips, but that is no longer the case with current USP 45 mags. All recently made USP 45 mags have the longer feed lips now so the only difference between a USP 45 mag and a Mark 23 mag is the floor plate.
Most of us have been using Mark 23 mags in USP for well over a decade with or without a floor plate change. During the AWB you could find used Mark 23 mags a lot easier than USP mags so if the gap left at the bottom bothered you, you changed the Mark 23 plate out for a USP plate and off you went.
Internally the slide and barrel is thicker on the Mark 23 over the USP. Just about everything is overbuilt, thicker and stronger. Since they both shoot the same round it does beg the question if all this beef is really needed but one thing for sure, you are not going to wear out a Mark 23.
Informative, as always ... thanks for the knowledge, Big Bore.
