Heckler & Koch-USA has launched a new competitive Shooting Team that marks HK’s first entry into the competitive shooting sports organized by the USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) and related sport shooting groups.
“We’re excited as this is our first major involvement in competitive
shooting in the USA at this level,” said Mark Osborne, HK’s Director of
Sales. “HK Germany has a European-based team but this is an opportunity for
HK-USA and our American team to showcase what they can do.”
“One major advantage we have is that the HK guns our team members use don’t
require much in the way of modification or tuning. Our team will be using
their P30L pistols pretty much right out of the box.”
The team will be shooting standard production-grade HK P30L models as their
primary competitive pistols.
ABOUT THE TEAM MEMBERS
Jason Koon
Koon came to competitive shooting after a background competing in archery
and bull riding. Starting as a junior shooter, he quickly became one of the
top five shooters in the U.S. His methodical, accuracy-based approach
allowed him to master competitive bulls eye shooting which ultimately
helped him transition into action pistol shooting. Koon holds several
national records and is a frequent winner of national, regional, and state
shooting championships across multiple types of shooting. Koon is notable
in his ability to compete in many different shooting sports at a high
level.
Koon will serve as team captain. Outside of shooting, Koon is an avid
runner, enjoys boxing and Jiu Jitsu, and spending time with his family.
Aaron Marco
Aaron's parents discovered his love of shooting when they went to
pick him up at a week long Boy Scout camp and found out he had spent
every spare moment on the rifle range. He discovered IDPA in 1998 and
quickly became hooked on the action shooting sports. He achieved a
Master class ranking in IDPA and was subsequently introduced to USPSA,
NRA TPC, and 3 gun. He has won his class at multiple regional, area,
and National competitions. Aaron became a Law Enforcement officer in 2006,
is a firearms instructor, and is currently assigned to SWAT.
In addition
to being a shooter, Aaron is a CrossFit enthusiast and is extremely
excited about the upcoming birth of his first child.
Bill Munier
Bill Munier began his competitive shooting career in 1997 competing
in sanctioned local, state, and regional USPSA pistol matches throughout
the southeast and nationally. Over the past 15 years, he has become
one of the top competitors in the sport with multiple state level
championship wins and area division titles in both USPSA and IDPA to
include being the current 2011 GA State Production Champion.
Bill holds the classification of Grand Master in the USPSA Production
Division and is an IDPA Stock Service Pistol and Custom Defensive
Pistol Master as well.
In addition to competing, he supports the
sport of practical shooting through mentoring new shooters and
regularly participating in local match officiating, stage design,
and construction. Bill also enjoys tactical rifle shooting in his
leisure time.
John Rasmussen
John first began shooting competitively while in the Air Force.
After leaving the military, he transitioned into law enforcement
where he currently serves as a deputy sheriff, helicopter pilot
and lead firearms instructor at his agency. John holds a master
classification in three USPSA divisions, and has finished in the
top 16 at the US Nationals.
John enjoys running, 3-Gun, and spending
time with his family.
Maria Harbin
Maria is a graduate student at Florida State University where she is studying Criminal Justice. During her freshman year of college, the presence of a stalker led her to discover a passion for martial arts and competition. She currently holds the rank of first Degree black belt as well as a instructor certification. Maria's activities and interests include competitive martial arts, semi-contact kickboxing, shooting, trail running, and hot yoga. Like martial arts, shooting sports constantly challenges her in a unique way and presents endless opportunities to grow in proficiency and skill with her firearm, the HK P30L. A few of Maria's personal objectives include shooting 3-Gun at a professional level, achieving the rank of 5th degree black belt, and completing my Masters degree.
